Educators for Fair Consideration (E4FC) Now Accepting Applications

Educators for Fair Consideration (E4FC) is now accepting applications for our 2010 New American Scholars Program!
E4FC's New American Scholars Program provides financial awards and support services to low-income immigrant college students who live or attend school in the San Francisco Bay Area. We provide scholarships of up to $5,000 to cover tuition and other college expenses. Scholars are selected for their academic excellence, financial need, and demonstrated community impact, regardless of their citizenship or residency status. Scholars are also expected to participate in E4FC workshops and commit to ongoing communityservice and/or professional development activities during the year.
The application deadline is Friday, March 5th. Applicants are now required to complete and submit both a Preliminary Online Application and a Paper Application, which includes essays, transcripts, and recommendations.

CCY Taking Action Conference

You aren’t going to want to miss it!

This year, we are back at the beautiful Embassy Suites Sacramento. The rate for the Taking Action conference is $149/night (which includes a cooked-to-order breakfast) and each room can sleep up to four!

Call for Workshop Proposals & Annual Awards Nominations
The California Coalition for Youth invites all interested youth and adults to cast nominations for the annual Taking Action Awards Dinner. The following awards will be presented on March 21, 2010: the Sue Matheson Mentoring Award, the Mark Pearlman Outstanding Service Award and the CCY Youth Leadership Award. Please download the official awards nomination form here. Nominations are due on Friday, February 5, 2010.
The California Coalition for Youth invites all interested youth and adults to submit proposals to present a workshop at Taking Action 2010. The goal of the conference is to highlight issues and challenges facing transition-age youth of all backgrounds throughout California. We are looking for creative and innovative workshops to address strategies for serving or working with transition-age youth. Please download the official call for presenters and workshop proposal form here. Proposals are due on Friday, February 12, 2010.

This exhibit features the work of artists from the Native Graphix studio, a new canvas mural focusing on urban ecology, and documentation of HOMEY’s work to transform the lives of youth.
